Please read our submission policy and guidance before submitting the form below.

The ethos of The PhD Place centres around developing friendship and community between researchers, encouraging discussion, and sharing ideas. All current PhD students are welcome to make a submission to The PhD Place, although the editorial team will occasionally invite submissions from other members of the academic community.

We will make periodic updates to our Submission Policy. We will always update this Submission Policy on the Article Submissions page of our website found at www.thephdplace.com/submit-an-article.html, so please ensure that you check our Submission Policy for any updates when you visit the site. This Submission Policy should be read in conjunction with our site Terms and Conditions, Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy, and Disclaimer.

Article Guidance
The PhD Place does not accept literature reviews or research proposals. Articles may include advice or narratives specific to your discipline, although submissions must have a personal angle to be considered. Your article will be included in search engines and will form part of your wider academic profile. You should bear in mind that it will therefore be accessible to future employers, students, and colleagues, among others.

Submissions must be between 700-1500 words and relate to any of the following:
  • Postgraduate experiences
  • Advice.
  • The research process.
  • The PhD process.
  • Current events (relative to the PhD).
  • Other relevant topics.

Ideas:
  • How has COVID-19 affected your studies?
  • Reflections on an internship.
  • What advice would you give to a new PhD student?
  • What did you do after your PhD?
  • The admissions process.
  • How has your topic changed throughout your PhD and why?
